About Bioma Vintage | Vinha Velha

The definition of Bioma translates into an organic community, with interdependent relations between plants and animals (including humans). The Biome thus reflects a bit of Niepoort's philosophy for the Vine of the Pisca. This vineyard, over 80 years old, has a natural balance that we have sought to preserve. Traditionally, Vine of the Pisca has occupied the "heart" of the blending of the Vintage in the Niepoort. Since 2007, we have kept some of the wines from Pisca to produce this "other" Vintage. In this Vintage Biome we intend to make an ultra-traditional style of Vintage Port, inspired by the Vintage Ports of 1970, which aged almost 3 years before being shipped in the pipes (550 litres) to England. Loaded in colour, with notes of black and silky fruit on the palate, it is a fantastic combination of elegance and strength. Perfect with Sierra Cheese, Stilton or other blue cheeses and desserts with egg candies, especially “pão de ló”.
